The Pacific Ranger District on the Eldorado National Forest is looking for 2 interns to work in support of the recreation program in the popular Wrights Lake Recreation Area.
Interns will work with other Forest Service staff to manage reservations, provide upkeep in campgrounds and assist with cleaning and maintenance of facilities.
Wrights Lake campground has 82 campsites and multiple trailheads from Wrights Lake leading to the Desolation Wilderness. This internship will provide a great opportunity to gain experience in a variety of aspects of recreation management.
Interns would also assist in education and outreach at Wrights Lake campground, including the Junior Ranger Program, scheduling and presenting interpretive programs at the amphitheater and staﬃng information kiosk.
The Eldorado National Forest is located in the central Sierra Nevada range near Lake Tahoe. It’s location along the Highway 50 corridor, and within close proximity to Sacramento, the San Francisco Bay Area and Reno, NV, make the Eldorado a popular destination for a variety of recreation opportunities.
Housing will be provided in government barracks or trailer. The location of the housing is approximately a 45-minute drive to the closest town of Pollock Pines for personal supplies (food, post oﬃce, etc.), so applicants having their own vehicle is recommended.

Duty station would be primarily at the Wrights Lake Recreation Area on the Eldorado National Forest. Access
to grocery shopping, post oﬃce and other needs is 45 minute drive.
Interns would work with Forest recreation staff to learn about the area. Intern provided opportunity to shadow
other areas. Standard training for field going activities, such as radio use and field travel safety, will be provided.
Mountain Biking, hiking, rock climbing, swimming, rafting, boating are all popular activities in the area. Folsom Lake
College is within driving distance.
