This position will serve as part of a 4 person trail crew working in Sawtooth, White Cloud, and Hemingway-Boulders Wildernesses and other backcountry areas of Sawtooth National Recreation Area, Sawtooth National Forest. Crew and interns will remove trees, brush, rock and other debris blocking trails; maintain and construct water bars and other erosion control structures; repair puncheons, bridges and other trail structures; and reconstruct/ relocate some sections of trails. They will use crosscut saws or chain saws, axes, pulaskis, shovels, loppers, hand saws, picks, and other hand and power tools. For main part of field season they will work 8 10-hour days with 6 days off between trips. They will camp in wilderness or other backcountry for many of work periods. They will either backpack, be horse supported, or camp at remote trailheads. They will also clean campsites and contact visitors.
 
This position will be supported by the SCA Idaho Corps program which operates at the Moyer Helitack base about 45 miles away. Members will join the SCA Idaho Corps for pre-season training , and will also be involved in SCA community meetings each month.
