Position ID
Coordinate volunteers and attend/conduct sea turtle survey training in preparation of nesting season.  Assist in conducting nesting surveys and nest inventories in accordance with Marine Turtle Permit requirements.  Respond to marine turtle strandings.  Marine turtle nesting season is from 1 April - 31 October. 

Conduct survey and control invasive plant species at Naval Station (NAVSTA) Mayport and Navy Fuel Depot (NFD).  Review existing surveys as applicable to current condictions of plant and animal communities.  Delineate extent of invasive plant infestations, and changes in natural communities.  Assess quality of habitat IAW most current Florida Natural Areas Inventory data.  Create maps showing specific areas of existing or potential invasive plant infestations.  Conduct survey for all listed invasive plant species, utilizing the best available scientific methods and materials.  Record successs of previous year’s control work in treated areas.  Record observations of all listed species, or indication of their presence, for data trasfer to habitat commuity maps.  Record observations of listed threatened or endangered plants and animals.  Prepare summary report of findings relevant to the approximate limits of installation bourndaries.  Report will include data sheets, observations of species on aerial photos and /or maps.

Conduct annual surveys to include migratory birds, gopher tortoise, and shorebird nesting activities.  Use GPS to document coordinates for nests, survey points and work with GIS manager to upload data.

Assist program managers in conducting routine environmental inspections of facilities.  Environmental inspections include stormwater, solid and hazardous waste, fuel tank and spill prevention inspections.
