The Intern will assist the Navy Natural Resource Manager and Forester with field surveys. Specific duties entail:
  • Assist in rare, threatened and endangered species surveys,
  • Assist in silviculture projects to include marking timber for sales, maintaining and establishing fire breaks, equipment maintenance and forest inventories,
  • Assist with urban forestry projects and planning to include tree pruning, maintenance, mapping and inventories, and Tree City USA programs,
  • Assist in conducting projects and management planning for coastal zone habitat restoration,
  • Assist in public relations with regard to coastal dune restoration, beach cleanup areas, and community conservation programs and events.          Navy natural resources personnel shall have substantial involvement in all of these tasks.
  • Duty will be at the Pensacola Florida Naval Air Station.
  • On the job training with some limited availability for local area short courses or seminars.
  • Local area conservation workshops; off duty variety of outdoor recreation including arts, crafts, festivals,
    beach, boating, camping, canoeing, fishing, and biking activities among others
