Range Conservation Fencing Interns

The Plumas National Forest is seeking two SCA Interns to serve on a Range Conservation Fencing Crew to work alongside Forest Service personnel on a high priority project to repair and rebuild fencing damaged in the devastating Dixie and Beckwourth Fires. The two interns will spend time in various locations on the scenic Mt. Hough and Beckwourth Ranger Districts of the Plumas National Forest. The project will expose the SCA interns to an array of infrastructure maintenance needs is required by a rangeland conservation and management program, fire recovery efforts, and to collaborating and working with permittees who utilize public lands to graze livestock on working landscapes.  Team members will be highly valued by the public, environmental groups and the Federal land management agencies to meet this vital need of multiple-use on public lands.

Conditions of Employment:
Beginning on 1/18/22, all new SCA volunteer program participants are required to be fully vaccinated. Full vaccination is defined as having received a booster shot six months after the Pfizer and Moderna primary series and two months after the Johnson & Johnson primary series.

$600/week living allowance
$1,100 travel allowance
$1,000 housing allowance (to pay for USFS housing)
