The Prairie Restoration Technician (Intern) will assist with prairie restoration work on lands owned by The Nature Conservancy, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and MN Department of Natural Resources. The main duties will be primarily native prairie seed collection, processing, and planting.  The position will also require field data collection and data entry related to on-going restoration, research and monitoring projects being conducted by The Nature Conservancy (TNC) staff and cooperators.  Other work may include tree removal, prescribed burning, and weed control (including herbicide application), or other preserve maintenance tasks.  The technician will need to work closely with Conservancy staff, partner agency staff, cooperating scientists, contractors, and volunteers.  

This position is an ideal opportunity for an aspiring field botanist with a passion for habitat restoration and an interest in developing skills in botany or plant ecology.  Self-motivated aspiring field ecologists with minimal experience in wildlife habitat management will also be considered.

This position provides an above-standard living allowance of $200 per week.
  • Operations base in St. Joseph, MN. Work will primarily be within a 50 mile radius of operations base. Housing provided.
