The candidate selected will work under the guidance of the park curator on projects related to both park archival and object collections. Principle duties will include assisting with the ongoing processing and arrangement of archival collections; assisting with the inventory of museum collections; upgrading museum object storage conditions; conducting object research; cataloging objects and updating museum catalog records with additional information; creating social media posts pertaining to cultural resources and the collections in the park; photographing objects; and implementing museum environmental monitoring and housekeeping tasks in collections areas.

This internship is ideal for a student who is interested in collections and archives management. While some experience with collections is necessary, all work will be guided by the park curator and appropriate field training will be provided as needed.
  • Must be able to lift 20lbs on a regular basis.
  • Experience in the Interior Collections Management System (ICMS)/Re: Discovery database is a plus.
  • Experience handling object collections is a plus.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel spreadsheets is a plus.

Compensation amounts:

  • $1,300 - one time RT trave allowance
  • $280 - weekly living allowance
  • AmeriCorps eligible ($2,907 education award and health insurance)
