  • Devils Tower National Monument is our nation’s first national monument. Located in northeast Wyoming, it was set aside to preserve the 867 foot column of igneous rock along with prehistoric/historic cultural resources and the plants and animal life of the area. Park size is 1,347 acres with an elevation of about 3,800 feet. The climate is usually mild and typical of the Black Hills region. High temperatures can range from the mid-90s in the summer to the 50s in the spring and fall. The three closest communities, Hulett (9 miles), Sundance (28 miles), and Moorcroft (30 miles) have basic services. The larger communities of Spearfish, SD and Gillette, WY are approximately 1 hour away with many services available.
  • This is an exciting opportunity to learn more about a career with the National Park Service. Training will be provided in interpretive skills and resource management. Other opportunities based on the members career and personal goals may be available.
  • Hiking trails meander for approximately 8 miles (12.1 km) through Devils Tower National Monument. The popular 1.3 mile (2 km) paved Tower Trail circles Devils Tower itself. Other longer trails traverse tranquil forests and meadows in the monument. Technic
