  • Devils Tower National Monument is our nation’s first national monument. Located in northeast Wyoming, it
was set aside to preserve the 867 foot column of igneous rock along with prehistoric/historic cultural resources
and the plants and animal life of the area. Park size is 1,347 acres with an elevation of about 3,800 feet.
The climate is usually mild and typical of the Black Hills region. High temperatures can range from the mid-90s in the summer to the 50s in the spring and fall. The three closest communities, Hulett (9 miles), Sundance (28
miles), and Moorcroft (30 miles) have basic services. The larger communities of Spearfish, SD and Gillette, WY are approximately 1 hour away with many services available.
  • Training opportunities include an overall seasonal training from other divisions and communities such as local
museums. Also there will be computer training, and an introduction to NPS policies and procedures and Interpretation on line training.
  • There are lots of recreational opportunities in the area. Hiking trails meander for approximately 8 mi (12.1 km)
through the monument. The popular 1.3 mi (2 km) Tower Trail circles the Tower. We offer camping in the nearby Black Hills National Forest.
