Step back in time at the beautiful and historic Colonial National Historic Park.  

The selected candidate will serve as an interpretive intern with the Division of Interpretation and Education at Colonial National Historical Park.  Duties include the following:

- Assisting in opening and closing visitor centers, historic buildings and other interpretive facilities on a daily basis.

- Greeting and orienting park visitors to programs and resources, as well as providing information and responding to questions from the public. 

- Under the direction of senior interpretive staff, the intern will develop, research and present guided walks and tours at designated areas within the park, as well as assist with various special events and activities at different times and venues.  


The intern may also be involved with various other activities and events, both within the division, as well as with other divisions, as assigned.


AmeriCorps award dependent on availability at time of selection.

  • On-site NPS training and orientation at Colonial NHP. Also access to web-based NPS training, as well as on the job training assignments. Many colleges and universities within the commuting area. Area has many tourism attractions.
