Work this summer will encompass preservation maintenance work involving commemorative resources such as painting historic cannon carriages, cleaning and waxing monuments, and painting historic camp tablets. It also includes work on historic buildings with the staining and sealing of the picnic area pavilion. We are also clearing encroaching vegetation from slopes inside the National Cemetery and riverbank areas. Finally, the brick sidewalks inside the National Cemetery will have areas repointed.  

Compensation: 
  • One-time travel allowance: $1,100 (personal vehicle is required)
  • Weekly living allowance: $500 / week
  • Monthly housing allowance: $375 / month - This is to pay for NPS housing provided on-site
  • Shiloh National Military Park stewards land resources, containing both cultural and natural resources in southwest Tennessee and Northeast Mississippi. The park manages lands protecting four Civil War battlefields, a National Cemetery and related battlefield burial sites, and the best preserved Mississippian Indian mound and village site in the United States.
  • National Park Service will help administer on the job training in historic preservation skills.
