Beginning on 1/18/22, all new SCA volunteer program participants are required to be fully vaccinated for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) with a Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authorized or FDA-approved COVID-19 vaccine. Full vaccination is defined as having received a booster shot six months after the Pfizer and Moderna primary series and two months after the Johnson & Johnson primary series.

GIS Intern working in the Real Estate section of the Portland District office for the Army Corps of Engineers.  xxx

Primary duties include Real Estate- boundary mapping, easements, GPS data collection for real property or other assets/infrastructure. Other duties include data acquisition, data management, parcel and project boundary line GIS Mapping, natural resource GIS mapping, and field GPS data collection.  Data analysis for projects related to cultural and historic resources, Master Plan development, threatened and endangered plants and wildlife, invasive plants, habitat restoration, easements and land ownership, and hydrology.  Additional duties may include field support of other natural resource programs such as botany, wildlife biology, cultural resources monitoring, boundary surveys and park operations.

Compensation amounts:
- $650- one time RT travel allowance
- $260 - weekly living allowance
- $40 weekly commuting allowance

- $1200 monthly housing allowance (12 months of housing)
- $3,000 duty travel reimbursement
- AmeriCorps eligible ($6345 education award)

  • Office is located in Downtown Portland Oregon. Address is 333 SW 1st Street, Portland, OR 97204. Field work primarily concentrated around 25 Operating Project Locations located on the Columbia and Willamette River Basins, the Rogue River Basin and Coastal Channels and Harbors, on nearly 145,000 acres of upland and submerged property.
  • Online ESRI ArcGIS training, local GIS workshops, other online classes or offsite training, and first aid/CPR training.
  • There are numerous recreational opportunities in the area including hiking, camping, bicycling, boating, fishing and rafting. Just over a 1-hour drive to either the Cascade Mountains or the Pacific Coast.
