Eastern National is partnering with the National Park Service in Lincoln City, Indiana to introduce 4th grade students to the educational and recreational opportunities available at Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial.

The intern will be responsible for working with education and interpretive staff to help students create a meaningful connection to their public lands, to learn about Abraham Lincoln and the time he spent here in southern Indiana, and to foster an understanding and appreciation for National Parks.

Job duties include:
1) collaborating with area teachers to schedule EKO pre-visits and field trips,
2) preparing materials ahead of field trips,
3) assisting with leading groups during field trips to the park,
4) presenting information to student groups during virtual or in-person visits.
 
The long-term goals of the project are to:
1) introduce intern to education related jobs and, for some, mentor them in that direction,
2) allow intern to actively participate in a large-scale education project,
3) provide an opportunity to gain experience in partnership, outreach, and collaboration, and
4) assist in fostering a sense of stewardship of the parks and their resources.

Compensation
- $340/week* Living Allowance
- $1,100* To/From Travel Allowance, paid once with first paycheck
- NPS bunkhouse Housing provided on-site
- Eligible for AmeriCorps Education Award of $1,718.25, received upon successful completion of position
- Eligible for the Public Land Corps (PLC) hiring authority upon successful completion of position (640hrs minimum of service)

Conditions of Employment
Beginning on 1/18/22, all new SCA volunteer program participants will be required to be fully vaccinated. Full vaccination is defined in SCA’s COVID Management plan, which can be found here.
