Position ID
Serve as member of the Cherokee National Forest trail maintenance team to maintain, repair and build trails on the north end of the Forest.  Trails are maintained to ensure the protection of wildlife habitat and water quality.  May perform trail logs and condition surveys.

The US Forest Service is seeking 2 interns to help assist with trail building in the forest.
Desired Skills:
  • Trail building experience
  • Chainsaw experience and /or certification
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification

Transportation: Intern may be provided with a government vehicle for project use, but will need their own vehicle for personal use.

Benefits: A housing allowance of $800/month will be provided to the intern. The intern will also receive a one-time travel allowance of $1100 to assist with round trip costs of relocation. Additionally, a weekly living allowance of $250/ week will be provided. 

This position can require strenuous labor at times as well as substantial amounts of hiking, sometimes in very steep terrain.
