BP Urban Forestry 2022 Young Adult Crew (HP)

Crew will plant 500 trees within the Indiana communities of Whiting and East Chicago on city and BP America owned property. The crew will work closely with SCA and USDA Forest Service staff to engage local residents as well as BP America staff and constituents in local tree planting and maintenance efforts. 

Crew members are expected to attend SCA provided training to ensure safe and effective tree canopy conservation as well as training in basic digital mapping and data collection techniques. Members will be expected to engage with local community members and corporate partners in tree care and urban forestry education at designated volunteer events. The team will also seek to educate the local community through tabling events and neighborhood canvassing. 

Crew will also care for and maintain previously planted trees within East Chicago and Whiting which includes: re-mulching, weeding, pruning, watering, checking for signs of disease, and updating iTree data reporting for each tree. 

Compensation: $12.50 per hour

Conditions of Employment: Beginning on 1/18/22, all new SCA program participants are required to be fully vaccinated. Up to date vaccination is defined as having received a booster shot six months after the Pfizer and Moderna primary series and two months after the Johnson & Johnson primary series.
