You will install vegetation and fuel plots and collect ecological field data; use GPS for location and navigation; assist with entering and checking field data; learn a customized software program used by many government agencies; communicate data results to park staff; assist with public outreach regarding fire ecology.
  • Bandelier National Monument is located an hour from Santa Fe in northern New Mexico. This 34,000 acre park is located on the slopes of the Jemez Mountains, spans an elevational gradient from 5,500 ft. to 10,200 ft. and contains extensive prehistoric Native American ruins, rugged canyon country, and a diverse assemblage of plant and animal life.
  • plant ID, data collection protocols, wildland fire training (red card), GPS, First Aid, CPR
  • Possible opportunity to travel to three area parks and forest service lands. Recreational opportunities include backpacking, climbing, biking, kayaking, and hiking.
