Rock Creek Park, a unit of the National Park Service, is recruiting a Biological Science intern to be part of a field crew that will be collecting vegetation data within the park during summer 2019.  
The intern will assist with sampling permanent vegetation monitoring plots collecting data on plant identification, structure and composition, understory vegetation, tree regeneration, tree health, tree canopy cover, and non-native, invasive plant species composition.
Other duties may include equipment maintenance and repair, site identification and preparation, collecting and pressing unknown plant specimens, and data entry. This is largely a field based position. Intern will be required to carry field equipment (20+lbs), hike, and work in all weather conditions throughout the summer.
Biological Sciences, Environmental Sciences, and Natural Resources Management majors are preferred for this position. Knowledge of Eastern Mid-Atlantic native flora, non-native, invasive plant species identification, and Geographic Information System skills preferred.
