In this internship you will access a number of state lands mostly around the Salmon River Reservoir (day use, camping, fishing access, etc)  to monitor public use and prevent potential impacts to natural resources. Duties will include: creating daily usage reports for select access sites around the reservoir and for all recreational whitewater releases on the Salmon River and creating weekly reports; educating the public on the proper use of public lands and providing information on Rules and Regulations; educating the public regarding current environmental topics such as fishing techniques for Salmon River & Reservoir, the Salmon River Fish Hatchery, fire danger, etc; notifying the Forest Ranger and Forester with respect to potential problems such as those involving hazardous trail conditions and emergencies that he/she encounters; performing minor trail maintenance (such as removing blowdown, installing or replacing trail markers and signs, and cleaning drainage devices); work with other staff as requested; and performing first aid and CPR in emergencies.
