Backcountry Office Intern

Intern will assist in staffing the Grant Village Backcounty Permit Office. Duties include disseminating information to back-country and front-country visitors, issuing backcountry permits, boat permits and fishing permits. Intern will assist with general projects from the back-country office including helping to clear back country trails, perform cabin assessments, assist the park’s aquatic nuisance program and helping with other miscellaneous administrative/project work under the supervision of the law enforcement division of the park.

A national certified EMT-B certification would be helpful, although not required. In addition, the intern will participate in the districts structural firefighting operation and EMS emergency operations (will help with driving the ambulance). Finally, the intern will shadow various divisions as time and opportunity allows(wolves, bison, fisheries, exotic plants, interpretation, maintenance..etc.).
  • Duty Station is Grant Village, located on the shore of Yellowstone Lake within Yellowstone National Park.
