Accessibility Intern (Local Candidates Preferred)

This project will provide one intern with a background in accessibility and recreation planning with hands-on experience supporting accessibility projects at parks across the Pacific West Region (PWR). Projects will be related to the regional accessibility program: (1) Review SETP – Self Evaluation Transition Plans and assist the regional accessibility coordinator in action items established by the process. (2) Participating in field training and assessments, improving community outreach methodologies, developing templates and guidance for PWR parks. The intern will participate in learning how to identify and assess accessibility features and barriers to accessibility to the outdoors for persons with disabilities.   (3) Researching training requirements and organizing them to facilitate park use. (4)  The intern will assist in gathering products and messaging from parks to create draft accessibility guide template data. Accessibility guides help visitors with disabilities better plan their visits so they may enjoy better access to national park experiences.

This position has an array of associated benefits:
Living Allowance: $280/week
Housing Allowance: $750/month
Commuting Allowance: $20/week
AmeriCorps Education Award: $2,907
Also, Duty Related Travel will be paid for up $1,100.
Please also note that federal and FBI background checks will be required for this position and must be completed before the internship can start.
