The Student Conservation Association (SCA) is partnering with the U.S. Forest Service to administer a roving prescribed fire crew in the southeastern United States. The crew will be assigned to a host forest within the western portion of the Southern Region where they will receive job training, personal development, and natural resource management skills at the same time accomplishing work that contributes to and benefits the public lands of the U.S. Forest Service. SCA will pay for your training in the following disciplines to qualify you for fire work during and after your service:
  • Chainsaw Training (S-212)
  • Fire Training (Red Card S-130, S-190)
  • Medical Training - Wilderness First Aid (WFA) & CPR 
  • SCA Corps Member Training

Compensation Details:

  • $300 / week living allowance
  • A one time $650 travel allowance 
  • Housing and meals are included
  • Eligible for an AmeriCorps education award worth: $1,538.36
  • S-130 / S-190 (Red Card), S-212, Wilderness First Aid (WFA), CPR, SCA Member Training.
