The Student Conservation Association (SCA) has partnered with the US Fish and Wildlife Service to provide summer internships for first & second year college students from culturally and ethnically diverse backgrounds.
  • US Citizens or Permanent Residents
  • First and Second Year college students academic year 2017-18
  • Some positions in this program will require you to have access to a personal vehicle during your internship.
  • Available to serve in the Southeast, Midwest, Northeast, or Alaska: May to August 2018

Program Details:

  • Internships take place at U.S. Fish and Wildlife field stations throughout the country
  • Internships are 12 weeks long during the summer 
  • Internship Areas of focus include: visitor services, natural resources management, and refuge management
  • Participate in a week-long orientation session to kick off your internship

Total package of up to $5800.00 that includes:

  • Housing
  • Weekly Living Allowance
  • Week-long expense-paid orientation
  • Assigned U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Mentor
  • Travel Expenses to and from orientation and internship sites
  • Hands-on experience
  • Application fee waived upon request

 Application Process:​

  • Apply to this position to express interest in the general CDIP program.
  • Recommended candidates will be sent a list of 2018 CDIP positions to review.
  • Recommended candidates express interest in specific CDIP internships/locations and may be contacted by USFWS for an interview.
  • Internships will be located throughout the US.
  • CDIP Members will participate in a week long, expense-paid orientation at the beginning of their internship. Members also receive hands on training specific to their internship tasks at their service location.
  • All CDIP interns will be assigned a mentor within the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for professional development and support during their service.
