The Youth and Volunteer Program Assistant will work alongside staff form the National Parks of New York Harbor (NPNH) to assist with the creation, promotion, facilitation, and/or improvement of youth and volunteer programs to engage the public in natural and cultural resource stewardship, historic preservation, and recreational opportunities at NPS sites in the greater NYC area and beyond.
This position coordinates with multiple NPNH youth and volunteer programs, including;
The Stephen T. Mather Building Arts & Craftsmanship High School (Mather) where the NPS provides workshops, training and learning events. The NPS provides projects opportunities for students to gain “real world” hands-on experience outside the classroom on natural, cultural and/or historic resource projects.
Trails and Rails Program is a collaboration between the NPS and Amtrak where volunteers share stories about national, state, and local parks as well as places of interest along the route while onboard Amtrak trains.
Compensation (pre-tax):
– $800/week Living Allowance
This position is not eligible for an AmeriCorps Education Award.
