Youth Program Development (40%)
- Assist the Youth Coordinator with long term (5-year) strategic planning for youth engagement and opportunities within the park.
- Help identify and establish new opportunities for youth in the park, including creating new internship programs and their supporting documents (templates, training materials, etc.)
- Conduct outreach to local educational institutions and establish new relationships.
- Work with partners to provide local youth with service-learning opportunities.
Youth Program Management (40%)
- Assisting with the park partner’s summer youth corps program, including leading field work and service days.
- Develop and lead professional development opportunities for youth in the park, including opportunities to learn about and explore regional points of interest and other NCA parks.
- Support park staff who work with youth, including coordination of work projects and providing general park and NPS orientation to youth.
Volunteer Program Management (10%)
- Support and help grow the park’s Roving Ranger volunteer program.
- Assist in administering the park’s SOLVE volunteer program, including establishing new partners.
Compensation:
- One-time travel allowance of $1,100 (pre-tax)
- Weekly living allowance: $600 / week (pre-tax)
- Eligible for an AmeriCorps education award upon successful completion of the position valued at $6,495.
- Eligible for health insurance if accepting AmeriCorps.
