The intern will work with Fort Davis National Historic Site (FODA) Interpretation Division to create content for the newly authorized Blackwell School National Historic Site (BLSC). Duties will include assisting in capturing video/photos for respective park sites at events or programs being offered; updating park social media sites; and updating park websites. Work involves drafting text/messages and taking photographs. Duties also include developing or editing written promotional material, writing articles for publication, answering inquiries or directing the public.
The intern would live and work at FODA which is located on the east flank of the Davis Mountains and adjacent to the town of Fort Davis. The town has a population of about 1,200 residents. The town of Marfa is twenty-one miles south of the town of Fort Davis. BLSC is located in Marfa and the intern would drive to this location infrequently to implement many of the duties described above. Travel to El Paso, TX to work with professors at the University of Texas, El Paso, on content development would be a potential action of the internship. There would be possible additional travel to other locations to assist with information gathering and possible oral history efforts.
Living allowance $450.00 per week
$1,100.00 one-time relocation travel.
