The incoming intern will assist in the care of 30 Alaskan Husky sled dogs. Tasks include feeding, cleaning, grooming, and training adults and puppies, and monitoring their general health (20%), you will also maintain equipment and grounds (20%), assist with ensuring safe and smooth sled dog demonstrations for the public, may drive the dog team or deliver 40 minute interpretive talks (30%), interact with visitors and answer questions (20%), collect National Weather Service weather data (5%), training and office work including social media outreach to the public(5%).
Compensation amounts:
- $1,300 – one time RT travel allowance
- $415 – weekly living allowance
- AmeriCorps eligible ($2,417.14 education award)
