This four-person SCA Trail Intern team will spend twelve weeks maintaining front-country trails on the Hume Lake Ranger District of the Sequoia National Forest in California. The Hume Lake Ranger District is located in the western Sierra Nevada Mountain range with elevations from 1000 to 10,000+ feet. The District enjoys a mild, dry climate with an average high of 75 degrees in summer and 42 degrees in winter. Much of the Hume Lake Ranger District is located within the Giant Sequoia National Monument and the Kings River Special Management area and encompasses two wilderness areas. Housing will be provided free of charge. Crosscut saw certification will be provided by the Forest Service.
A Forest Service owned/leased vehicle will be provided and should be used to go from housing to project locations.
