River Ranger Intern (PO-00735399)

Core program work will include installing, removing, and maintaining habitat fence, working with volunteers to educate anglers, removing litter, recycling monofilament, patrolling the river, and monitoring human-bear interactions.

Interns will work with permanent and seasonal staff to engage with volunteers.  They will also work with other federal, state, and tribal staff to coordinate management activities and complete projects. Interns will need to bring a positive attitude, willingness to work inclement weather, and wade in cold water wearing chest waders.

Compensation Amounts:

  • $1,500 – one time RT travel allowance
  • $300 – weekly living allowance
  • $500 – duty-related reimbursements for boots/travel
  • $255 – monthly housing allowance to pay for USFS bunkhouse costs
  • AmeriCorps eligible ($1,718.25 Education Award)

It is SCA's policy that all AmeriCorps-required background checks must return cleared prior to the position's start; this includes being fingerprinted for the FBI check. Otherwise, the AmeriCorps award will be removed or the position's start date will be delayed due to non-compliance.

C.Partner will pay the SCA to provide housing allowance for the member.

Housing in the form of a bunkhouse will be available.  All rooms are double occupancy.  While dormitories may be co-ed, we generally put same sex roommates together.  Dorms include use of the kitchen, living room, bathroom and laundry facilities.
