Resource Management Crew at City of Rocks Preserve (PO-00735303)

City of Rocks National Reserve is a small park in Almo, ID, established in 1988. Much of the existing park infrastructure was developed either before 1988 or shortly after. Many important assets, structures, and resources have reached the end of their lifecycle and need to be replaced before system failures occur. In addition to routine tasks and updating existing infrastructure, the Reserve purchased two considerable parcels of land from private ownership and infrastructure needs to be designed and constructed. The interns would be instrumental in developing access for the public in these parcels. Natural resource surveys will be completed, trails will be designed and constructed, parking lots laid out, and roads installed. These efforts will allow thousands of individuals each year to experience these incredible places for recreation.

The individual will be tasked with completing reoccurring maintenance on trails such as: clearing vegetation, retreading trail tread, removing deadfall, repairing pedestrian bridges, replacing check steps and water bars, and repairing retaining walls.

The individual will be tasked with completing natural resource projects such as grazing allotment monitoring, wildlife camera monitoring, revegetation and conservation efforts, fuel reduction, invasive plant species removal, and assisting with natural resource research efforts with outside agencies.
