Rangeland Management & Monitoring Interns in Sun Valley ID (PO-00735007)

Interns will be assisting with technical work in support of the Range Program on the Sawtooth NRA. Work will be divided between vegetation monitoring and inspection of range allotments and integrated pest management (IPM) activities across the Sawtooth NRA. General work responsibilities will include transit to and from project sites via pickup truck or OHV, field plant identification of native and exotic plants, survey and monitoring of rangeland health or weed infestations, and treatment and/or documentation of vegetation communities using GPS-enabled field computers (tablets). On-the-job training will be provided for weeds application and vegetation monitoring protocols, OHV operation, and other skills necessary for effective job performance. There will also be the opportunity to obtain a Red Card for performing wildland firefighter duties. The individual(s) will need to possess a valid state driver’s license. Hiking on uneven terrain is a regular part of the position and overnight camping may be required.

Compensation amounts:
– $1,100- one time RT travel allowance
– $250 – weekly living allowance
– Housing included
– AmeriCorps eligible ($1,718 education award) at fulfillment of position requirements and 450 hours
