Experience the adventure and beauty of Alaska’s public lands through an internship with the Interpretation team at the Fairbanks Alaska Public Lands Information Center in Fairbanks Alaska.
You’ll join a team of dedicated National Park Service rangers working with visitors on their “trip of a lifetime” to interior Alaska. During a typical internship, you'll hone public speaking and communication skills by providing orientation and safety information at the visitor center and over the phone (50%), develop original, in-person programs for visitors (25%), and project work to sustain interpretation team operations and activities (25%). Additionally, the participant will work collaboratively with other interpreters to contribute to the park's social media outreach program. During project time, the participant will assist with electronic requests for park information, work on exhibit maintenance, and complete other tasks depending on interpretation team needs and the participant's interests.
Although Denali National Park and Preserve is 2 hours away, work will help support this park's operation as well. Interns will answer phone requests and provide trip planning assistance to visitors who plan to go to Denali.
