The US Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) manages over 6 million museum items, many of which consist of archaeological collections and their associated records. These collections are housed at various locations across the country. Help preserve FWS museum collections housed at Grave Creek Mound Archaeological Complex in Moundsville, West Virginia by becoming a museum curation assistant with SCA.
Position Duties include:
- Re-house (e.g., re-box, re-bag, re-label) FWS collections as needed.
- Digitization of associated reports and photographs and, where applicable, work with staff to identify additional photos that require documentation and digitization
- Enter collection information into the repository database, if needed
- Assist Grave Creek staff in other tasks needed to ensure the continued preservation and access to US Fish and Wildlife Service collections
Compensation:
- $650 / week Living Allowance (pre-tax)
- $1,100 Travel Allowance (personal vehicle required) (pre-tax)
