Museum Collections and Archeological Internship (PO-00732701)

Position Dates: 02/13/2023 – 09/10/2023

Fort Frederica is seeking an intern to work with the Cultural Resources Manager to complete tasks involving museum collections management and archival research. The intern will help the park meet National Park Service (NPS) curation standards for managing archival and museum collections. The intern will also learn NPS best practices to complete museum work tasks such as the annual inventory, museum housekeeping, cataloging, and rehousing of objects. Applicants must demonstrate strong computer, research, writing, and organizational skills. The ability to work independently is important. A museum studies or archives management background is preferred. Park housing is available. Located in St. Simons, GA.  

Compensation: 

  • One-time travel allowance: $1,200 (personal vehicle is required
  • Weekly living allowance: $275 / week
  • Housing provided by the park.

This position is based in updated Mission 66 style housing located within the park boundaries. Shared housing will be provided. A personal vehicle is required and is necessary to reach grocery stores, recreational opportunities, and conveniences.
