Forest Service Mount Evans Welcome Station Crew Members provide valuable information about the natural and cultural resources of Mount Evans. A Mount Evans Welcome Station Crew Member is an ambassador for the Forest Service acting as an informational and educational contact for visitors. They should be friendly, enthusiastic and ready to engage visitors in meaningful dialogue about Mount Evans and the surrounding area. 
 
As a Mount Evans Welcome Station Crew Member, your primary responsibilities will be checking in visitors who have timed entry reservations and selling reservations on site to visitors who do not have reservations. 

Other opportunities on Mount Evans may include times to staff the Mount Goliath Natural Area, Summit Lake Park and the Mount Evans Summit (parking lot and peak), providing visitor information services to the thousands of people who visit each year.  Crew members also work closely with the volunteers on the ground at the sites, assist with tracking volunteer hours, sharing information with the volunteers and providing feedback to the program manager and volunteer coordinator, address any volunteer question or concerns on site.

Compensation amounts:

  • $1,100 – one time RT travel allowance
  • $600 – weekly living allowance
  • Housing on-site

Government housing is provided at the Forest Service workcenter in Idaho Springs, CO.  One bunkhouse has capacity for 6 employees, two people per room, 2 restrooms with showers, a shared living room and kitchen with a washer and dryer.  The second bunkhouse is smaller for 3-4 employees, 1 restroom/shower, kitchen and washer and dryer. 
Each bunkhouse has cooking pots/pans and kitchen utensils.  
Individual will have to bring there own bedding.
