Hilltop Urban Farm Intern (Local Candidates Preferred) (PO-00734694)

The HUF Farm Intern is a valued member of the Hilltop Urban Farm team and will work alongside each staff member to realize the mission and goals of Hilltop Urban Farm. The HUF Farm Intern will provide routine maintenance of the farm after proper training of farm equipment operation. This will include mowing, maintaining two orchards, watering trees and multiple blueberry patches, and caring for the Youth Farm Garden. The HUF Farm Intern will participate in all aspects of production spaces including planting, tending, harvesting, washing and packing produce grown at the farm for distribution. They may also support volunteer events ranging from working with a single individual to helping host one day events of 5-100 individuals. The HUF Intern may also be involved in community and youth programming onsite, when deemed appropriate.

The selected candidate will be flexible and adaptable to quickly changing needs and conditions at HUF, dependable, determined, and a team player; strong time-management skills are highly valued. The Farm Intern should have a natural interest and curiosity (or be open to learning) in sustainable agriculture, food and social justice, as well as food security.

Compensation Details: 

  • Weekly Living Allowance: $500/ week*  (40 hours/week expectation)
  • M-F work week with some Saturday work days throughout the season.
  • AmeriCorps education award eligible up to $2,474.27 upon successful completion of the position*

    Training Provided: HUF Farm Intern will be trained to operate most farm equipment: string trimmers (held and walk behind), riding mowers and blowers; as well as trained in vegetable and herb planting, tending, harvesting, washing and packing for distribution.
