The Chugach National Forest GIS Team is seeking an enthusiastic candidate for an internship. This position will oversee the development of a SharePoint web page, and will entail compiling, organizing, updating, and presenting geospatial resources, links, and datasets for internal and external GIS users. Secondary duties would include some basic GIS data management and analysis, as well as the development of online cartographic products, like web maps, apps, and feature services.
The applicant must be coachable and self-driven and must have the ability to thrive as part of a team, as well as in an individual setting.
On-the-job training will be provided, but a working knowledge of SharePoint software is strongly desired. A functional understanding of Microsoft Excel, Word, Publisher, Power Point, and Adobe Acrobat are also beneficial skills for this position. A background in GIS or geospatial data management would also be a big plus for a candidate in this position.
The work schedule will be full-time. Tasks will be mostly computer-based and will be performed in the Chugach National Forest Supervisors Office in Anchorage, Alaska.”
Compensation amounts:
- $1,500 – travel/training allowance
- $400 – weekly living allowance
- $1,000 – monthly housing allowance (intern must find and arrange their own housing in Anchorage)
- $500 – duty-related reimbursable expenses
