Compensation

Primary Responsibilities
The YCC Coordination Intern will be responsible for assisting park staff with running the Youth Conservation Corps(YCC) at Eastern Virginia Rivers National Wildlife Refuge Complex. Youth Conservation Corps is a summer employment program for local youth (ages 15-18) who work, earn and learn together doing outdoor conservation projects. 

About the YCC Program
YCC members complete meaningful projects that require hard work and cooperation. Work projects on the Refuges may include building and improving trails, removing invasive plants, and contributing to wildlife management programs. Enrollees also participate in educational activities planned by park staff and the SCA YCC Intern. The YCC Coordination Intern will assist staff with leading the crew in their daily activities and be responsible for the administrative requirements for the crew, including reporting time and completing a narrative report of accomplishments.

Members will work M-F during business hours. Interns will have evenings and weekends off.

Housing will be in a two bedroom lodge that has meeting space downstairs (that is used maybe once every third week).  It has a kitchen, washer and dryer, the bedrooms are upstairs that share a bathroom upstairs, there is a separate downstairs bathroom.  Beds, mattresses and blankets are already there, but Intern does need to bring sheets/pillows/towels.  The lodge is located on Refuge, next to a 25 acre pond and surrounded by great birding and hiking trails.
