Wilderness Ranger Crew Members (PO-00734847)

The Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, Snoqualmie Ranger District in North Bend, WA will be filling 2 full time Wilderness Ranger crew members for the summer season.  We are looking for candidates with a strong desire to work in public lands management, are excited to work on a team, and want to engage with the public. Duties:

  • Conduct wilderness patrols providing visitor information and education addressing Leave-No-Trace camping, wilderness philosophy.
  • Data collection and monitoring including visitor use, campsite inventory and GPS.
  • Assist in trail maintenance and reconstruction projects, and conduct trail surveys.
  • Perform ecological restoration, re-vegetation, and site naturalization.​​​​​​​

Compensation amounts:
– $1,100- one time RT travel allowance
– $325 weekly living allowance
– Housing on site provided
– $1,020 Duty Related Travel Reimbursement ($20/day x 3 days x 17 weeks)
– AmeriCorps eligible at fulfillment of 17 weeks and 675 hours of service ($2,474 education award)
 Eligible for the Public Land Corps (PLC) hiring authority upon successful completion of position (640hrs minimum of service)

Training Provided: Interns will go through the orientation and training given to seasonal employees on each Ranger District. SCA interns will be mentored by experienced Wilderness Rangers and other employees on the Ranger District.

Educational/Recreational Opportunities: Mt Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest abounds with outdoor recreation opportunities throughout the year. Seattle and Tacoma have diverse educational and cultural venues including major universities, museums, , theatre, sports facilities, etc.
