ROLES OF THE RANGER: 
 Ambassador: Rangers are “ambassadors” and uniformed public relations officials for the City of Pittsburgh Department of Parks and Recreation. The Rangers’ will maintain a professional demeanor while educating the park visitors/users in order to promote safety and provide resource protection.

Educator: Rangers provide visitors/users of the park with information on park offerings, programs, and activities. Rangers shouldseek to educate before they enforce. 

Code Enforcement: Rangers remind visitors/users of park ordinances in order to ensure guest/facility safety and protect natural resources for future generations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
 Educate the public about the City of Pittsburgh Parks and Recreation facility and ordinance as well as gain compliance in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
 Provide information on the park such as available facilities and activities, park rules concerning its usage, etc.
 Patrol assigned areas by foot, bike, Segway and/or vehicle to engage park guests in order to promote the safety and security of the facility and its visitors.
 Collaborate with City of Pittsburgh departments, partners and the community to foster an inclusive environment within our parks.
 Respond to emergency situations that include cooperation with law enforcement and emergency response units.
 Issue verbal warnings.
 Document daily patrol activities and complete various forms and reports relating to parks operations and incidents.

-Members will recieve $10 per hour and work 32-40hrs per week. Work weeks will noramlly be 5days a week, but will include work on weekends, and holidays. Special events may require early mornings or late evenings. 
-Members will work in a teams of 4 with an SCA Crew Leader. 
-Members will attend Park Ranger School, Receive Wilderness First Aid training, and many other training opportunities.
-Excellent oppurtunity for anyone looking to be exposed to the park ranger role.
-Members must have own housing in Pittsburgh area.
