WELLSBORO, Pa. (WENY) — Crews from the Pennsylvania Outdoor Corps are working on several new projects at Hills Creek State Park in Wellsboro.
Officials with the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources visited the crew to check in on the progress.
Officials say the purpose of the group is to teach the students about conservation, but also life skills that they can carry with them for their future careers.
“The importance of SCA is that we’re trying to teach the youth the importance of the environment. We’re also trying to teach them teamwork in order to be able to work together as a team and to accomplish a project, like this one,” says Sean Minnick, Co-leader of SCA.
It’s a 6 week program and the crew members work 8 hour days, including a lunch break.
