125 Student Volunteers, NPS Director to Participate in Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service Event at Fort DuPont Park
National Park Service Director Jonathan B. Jarvis will join 125 Student Conservation Association volunteers to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at an MLK Day of Service event at historic Fort DuPont Park in Washington, D.C., on Monday, January 20th, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

- What: MLK Jr Day of Service event to beautify Fort DuPont Park, includes invasive species removal, trash and debris removal, general repairs
- When: Monday, January 20th, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
- Where: Fort DuPont Park, 3600 F and Minnesota St SE, Washington, D.C.
Volunteers will include members of SCA’s Washington, D.C., community conservation program, the AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps, the National Environmental Education Foundation, local universities and colleges, Fort DuPont Park and more.
Fort DuPont Park, with roots dating back to the Civil War, is one of the capital’s largest and most popular parks and is managed by the National Park Service. The DC project is the largest of 11 MLK Day of Service events being conducted nationwide by SCA, an NPS partner of nearly 60 years.
