Location (City and State): Atlanta, GA
Primary Responsibilities:
As Crew Leader, you will be working to guide and inspire a team of 3 young adults from the Atlanta, GA area. The crew will be working on projects such as extensive invasive species removal at Lindsay Park. This crew will be based out of Lindsay Park. The crew leader will lead crew to remove vegetation, Privet, Kazoo, and English Ivey from the back layer of the park. In addition, the crew leader will also support crew members with other task such as: dead tree removal, trash removal, in and around the creek, maintaining roots in the ground, adding mulch berm at top of the hill to slow rain and erosion from the park, and cutting woody privet and treat stump don’t pull it out 1/2 inch or inch and support with treatment for new growth Project monitoring and data collection will also be required throughout the season
Specifically, the Crew Leader will:

Act as a Crew Supervisor, by facilitating teamwork, managing field-based tasks, and guiding crew dynamics

Serve as an Advisor, by training members in technical conservation work skills, mentoring personal and professional development, and teaching environmental stewardship

Act as a Project Manager, by communicating with agency park partners, ensuring successful and timely completion of work projects, and upholding a positive representation of SCA

Perform tasks as a Program Administrator, by organizing logistics, completing documentation, managing a budget, and communicating with SCA staff
Leader Qualifications:
-
Experience working with youth or young adults [Enter preferred age range here], teaching or environmental education a plus

Experience with conservation work skills or related skills preferred – i.e., trail maintenance, trail construction, habitat restoration, chainsaw, carpentry, landscaping, and gardening

Ability to perform manual, physical labor for up to 8 hours per day, exposed to the elements, and must occasionally lift and/or move 40 pounds or more

First Aid and CPR Certified

Must be able to attend Crew Leader training: 01/30/23-02/03/23

Must be a minimum of 21 years of age

Must have the ability to legally work in the US

Must have a valid driver’s license for 3+ years and MVR that meets SCA standards

Must be able to meet SCA’s criminal background check standards
Leader Benefits and Compensation:

$725 weekly salary

Rental Vehicle provided for Crew Leader.

List training leaders will receive and include the monetary value of the training.
Conditions of Employment:
Beginning on 1/18/22, all new SCA program participants are required to provide proof of up-to-date vaccination against COVID-19. Per CDC guidance, up-to-date vaccination now includes all recommended COVID-19 vaccines, including any booster dose(s) when indicated. For example, if someone has completed the primary series but is not yet indicated for a booster shot, they are considered up to date. Once a person is indicated for a booster (6 months after Pfizer or Moderna primary series, 2 months after J&J primary series), full and up-to-date vaccination includes the completed booster shot.
