Youth Kids Day of Service with Whole Foods the SCA at Fort Dupont Park!

Location: Fort Dupont, Park, Washington DC
Join SCA and Whole Foods Market for a youth focused day of service at Fort Dupont Park! Fort Dupont Park is nestled amongst a beautiful mature hardwood forest in Southeast DC. The park is home to over 10 miles of trails, community gardens, and a rich Civil War history. Volunteers will work to weatherize the community gardens and maintain park trails.
When: Saturday September 14th, 9am to 1pm
Where: Fort Dupont Park is located in Southeast Washington, DC. Please enter the park at the Randle Circle Entrance and find your way to the Visitors Center parking lot. (40 Randle Circle Drive Southeast Washington DC 20019)
What: Garden weatherization, environmental education, trail work and clean up
Bring with you: Please wear long pants and closed toed shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty. We will provide snacks and lunch for all volunteers as well as gloves.
Behind the scene details:
There is a parking lot located at the visitor’s center off of Fort Dupont Drive. Enter the park from the Randle Circle entrance and drive .3 miles. Turn left into the parking area. A SCA representative will meet you at the main entrance and lead to registration. Public Transportation options are also available. Volunteers will need to sign up for the event through the Whole Foods Eventbrite page: http://kidsdayservice.eventbrite.com/
We will provide gloves and any other materials needed for the project. We will also provide light snacks in the morning and a full lunch in the afternoon for all volunteers.
Schedule:
9:00 am: Meet SCA at the registration tent near the visitor’s center
9:00-9:30 am: Registration and Snacks at near the visitor’s center
9:30-10:00 am: Introduction, safety and project talk
10:00-12:30 pm: Work Project!
12:30-1:00 pm: Gather back near the community gardens for lunch and a wrap up.
