Celebrating Veterans Day Through Service in Washington DC

Join SCA to celebrate our Veterans through a day of volunteer service at Fort Mahan Park in Northeast DC.

Fort Mahan is one of the several NPS Civil War Defense sites located throughout DC. Adjacent to the Minnesota Ave metro stop, this open green space provides walking and biking paths as well as play and fitness areas to the local community.

On November 11th, in celebration of Veterans Day, SCA volunteers will work to improve this public space by renovating the fitness and play areas within the park. Volunteers will build and assemble new structures, mulch surrounding areas, and clear invasive species.

WHEN: Tuesday, November 11th, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm

WHERE: Fort Mahan Park, 42nd St and Benning Rd, NE, Washington, DC 20020. Street parking is available on 42nd St NE. SCA representatives will meet volunteers at the corner of Grant St and 42nd St NE.

WHAT: Volunteers will build and assemble new play structures in the park, mulch surrounding areas, and clear invasive species.

BRING WITH YOU: Please wear long pants, closed-toe shoes, and long-sleeved shirts. Please also bring your own water bottle! Breakfast and lunch will be provided by SCA.
