Join SCA and Friends of Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens to celebrate our Veterans through a day of volunteer service in Northeast DC.
Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens is located only a few miles from the Nation’s Capitol, is home to the only remaining tidal marsh in Washington, D.C., and is famous for its breathtaking historic water lily and lotus ponds. Join SCA and Friends of Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens on Saturday, November 14th as we prepare the ponds and gardens for the winter season in celebration of Veterans Day.
WHEN: Saturday, November 14th, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm
WHERE: Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens, 1550 Anacostia Ave Northeast, Washington, DC 20019. By Car: Enter the park at the Anacostia Ave entrance to access the free visitors parking lot. By Metro: Kenilworth is accessible via the Deanwood Metro stop (orange line)
WHAT: Volunteers will work to prepare the gardens for the winter season by removing lotus, clearing invasives, preparing the greenhouse, and more.
BRING WITH YOU: Please wear long pants, closed-toe shoes, and long-sleeved shirts. Please also bring your own water bottle! Snacks and lunch will be provided by SCA.
