Trails Day Hike at Macleay Park in Portland, OR

Celebrate National Trails Day by hitting the trail with fellow SCA alumni in Portland! This hike is organized by members of SCA’s young alumni council as a way to further engage SCA alumni in the Portland area and build continued connections to the great outdoors.

This easily accessible in-town hike in Macleay Park features a charming creek, lush forest, and a Victorian-era mansion with an expansive view of downtown Portland and Mount Hood.

WHEN: Saturday, June 6th, 9:00 am 

WHERE: Macleay Park, 2960 NW Upshur Street, Portland, OR 97210.

WHAT: A day of hiking with SCA’s young alumni! 5-mile roundtrip hike with 900 ft elevation gain, moderate difficulty.

WHO: Alums who have served with SCA as interns, corps members, crew members, crew leaders, staff, or volunteers anywhere in the country! Current members and families also welcome.

BRING WITH YOU: Wear sturdy hiking shoes and bring snacks and plenty of water.

DIRECTIONS:

BY PUBLIC TRANSIT: From N2 23rd & Lovejoy, take Bus 15 towards NW Yeon & 44th via Montgomery Park (7 stops). Get off at NW Wardway & Montgomery Park. Walk west on NW Vaugn St. Turn left onto NW 28th place. Turn right on NW Upshur St. Destination on the right. Cost: $2.50

PARKING: There are only about 8 parking places in the lot here, so parking can be very difficult on weekends. You can park on the streets surrounding the park, or up on Thurman Street near the bridge. There is a stairway on the east end of the bridge to bring you down to the park.
