Join New York State Parks and SCA’s Hudson Valley Corps to celebrate National Trails Day with a day of service at Saratoga Spa State Park. Volunteers will create a new trail entrance, install split rail fencing, and remove invasives species such as knapweed, bittersweet, and honeysuckle to protect the habitat of the endangered Karner Blue butterfly.
WHEN: Friday, June 6th, 10:30 am to 5:00 pm
WHERE: Saratoga Spa State Park, 19 Roosevelt Drive, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 (meet at Administration Building in Gideon Putnam Room)
WHAT: Trail maintenance, fence construction, and invasive species removal.
BRING WITH YOU: Please wear work clothes appropriate for the weather, including long pants, long sleeves, and sturdy closed-toe boots. Bring sunscreen, bugspray, sunglasses, a hat and raincoat, and your own water bottle and eating utensils for lunch. If you are an SCA member, please bring your SCA hardhat.
PROVIDED: SCA will provide work gloves, safety glasses, and ear plugs, and will offer free lunch for all volunteers. (Bring your own eating utensils.)
