The Student Conservation Association (SCA) and CIRI have teamed up for Service on the Solstice at Taku Lake Park on Thursday, June 21st, 2018.
Taku Lake Park is a 53 acre park located along the Campbell Creek Greenbelt in the Taku/Campbell neighborhood of Anchorage. Natural areas include Taku Lake and Campbell Creek as well as surrounding wetland and riparian habitat. The park also features two tennis courts, a small skate park, a picnic shelter, fitness area, and a rain garden, as well as paved and soft surface trails.
Join SCA and CIRI to celebrate the first day of summer by joining fellow Anchorage residents and friends in planting willows and conserving Taku Lake Park. All ages welcome!
WHEN: THURSDAY, June 21st, 9:00 am -12:00 pm. Registration and breakfast beginning at 8:30am with kickoff at 9:00am.
WHERE: Taku Lake Park, 8201 Stormy Place, Anchorage, AK 99518. Park in the main lot off of Stormy Place and follow the path to the pavilion. Overflow parking is available off of King Street & E 76th Ave.
WHAT: Volunteers will remove invasive bird vetch, plant willows, help beautify the pavilion, and help pick up trash around the park.
BRING WITH YOU: Please wear long pants and closed-toe shoes and bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated. The event will take place rain or shine so please dress for the weather!
PROVIDED: All project supplies (tools, gloves, etc.) and breakfast are provided.
