SCA Washington DC Earth Day

Join SCA Washington DC as we get our hands dirty helping to conserve our local community. We will be planting trees, removing invasive species, and helping maintain trails at the Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens.

  • What: Large tree planting project. SCA is in charge of planting 40 trees and removing invasive plant species at the Gardens. We’ll also help with trash removal along the Anacostia watershed, planting of flowers and maintenance of gardens and trails within the park.

  • When: Saturday, April 21st 8:30am – 2pm
    8:30am Registration
    9am – 1pm Service work
    1pm – 2pm Lunch (provided by SCA)
  • How: Register online for our DC Earth Day event!
    RSVP capacity: 50.
    Total volunteers working on site will be over 200. However, we have several pre-registered groups.
    RSVP by Monday, April 16th or prior if capacity is reached.

Additional Info:

  • Volunteers should wear long pants and closed toe shoes.
  • There is no age restriction. Children accompanied by parents are welcome.
  • Please bring water bottles and sunscreen.
  • Event will happen rain or shine. Only severe weather will cancel the event.
  • The park is a 10-15 minute walk to Deanwood Metro Station on the Orange Line, so we’d like to encourage as many people as possible to take public transportation.
