Join the Student Conservation Association (SCA) and Friends of the Forest Preserves for an alumni workday at Wampum Lake Woods in Thornton, IL!
WHEN: Sunday, October 13th, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
WHERE: Wampum Lake Woods. Free parking available.
WHO: Alumni of past programs with SCA and Friends of the Forest Preserves.
WHAT: Restoration work cutting and burning woody invasive species/brush.
BRING WITH YOU: Please wear layers, long pants, and sturdy work boots and bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated. **We will be working near a brush pile (a large fire where we burn the invasive species that we cut and remove) so please wear clothes that you do not mind getting dirty or that you do not mind getting burned! Sometimes embers from the fire can burn small holes in your clothes if you get too close!**
PROVIDED: Tools, water, and personal protective equipment (gloves, eye protection, hard hats) will be provided. Light refreshments to follow the workday at 12:00 pm!

TRANSPORTATION DETAILS: Limited carpool rides available. You must RSVP for a spot to carpool by emailing [email protected] no later than 3:00 PM on Thursday, October 11th. If you do not RSVP you cannot carpool.
